Steel Shipments Tick Upward

The American Iron and Steel Institute, Washington, D.C., reports that shipments from U.S. steel mills increased by 5.3 percent in October compared to September, however shipments were off by 13.4 percent compared to October 2008 levels. A month-to-month comparison of shipments shows hot-rolled sheet up 12.5 percent, hot-dipped galvanized sheet and strip up 8.8 percent and cold-rolled sheet up 1.4 percent.
