NAM Education Arm Receives a Shot in the Arm

Wednesday, January 10, 2007

Thanks to a grant of $538,000 from the Lumina Foundation for Education, The Manufacturing Institute/Center for Workforce Success of the National Association for Manufacturers (NAM) has launched its Business Champions initiative. The NAM research and education arm will use the initiative to bring together U.S. business leaders to support policies that expand educational opportunities aimed at building a stronger U.S. workforce. Business leaders will work with elected policymakers, higher-education officials and employers in their regions and states to improve workforce-development capacity of community colleges, and to reduce the costs of higher education. PMA has two members on the list of Business Champions—Elizabeth Abraham, CEO of Top Tool Co., Minneapolis, MN, and Erick Ajax, vice president of E.J. Ajax and Sons, Fridley, MN.
