The American Welding Society, Miami, FL, has released AWS D8.7M:2005, Recommended Practices for Automotive Weld Quality—Resistance Spot Welding. The document offers advice and criteria for evaluating welds in coated and uncoated automotive sheetmetal applications. It describes weld characteristics, metrics and testing methods useful in evaluating weld quality, under static and dynamic loading. The document was last updated in 1988.
