Fagor to Install Inspection and Slitting Lines
at Thyssen Facility in Shanghai

Friday, July 11, 2003

Fagor Arrasate, with U.S. offices in Bensenville, IL, will install two major slitting and rewinding lines at Stainless Krupp Shanghai, a property of the Thyssen Group. The lines will process high-resistance stainless steel in thicknesses from 0.0098 to 0.118 in. They will accepts coils sized to 53.15 in. wide and weighing to 28 metric tons, with working speeds of 666 ft./min. These lines are automated via a central computer that, besides monitoring and controlling all mechanisms, includes failure diagnosis, production control, on-line operator help and presetting. The new lines will offer capability for application of protective plastic sheeting. To improve coiling, winders have interchangeable mandrels, and high-capacity slitters feature automatic hydraulic blocking of the knives set. For more, visit www.fagorarrasate.com.
