Tuesday, December 9, 2003

The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) will offer its Great Designs in Steel Seminar 2004 on Wednesday, February 18, at the Laurel Manor Conference and Banquet Center in Livonia, MI. The free seminar discusses new and emerging automotive steel technologies, with more than 24 technical presentations given by automotive engineers and steel-industry representatives. Presentations will detail the use of dual-phase steels in tailor-welded-blank applications; gas-metal-arc welding of high-strength steels; formability characteristics of new high-strength steels; rollforming and hydroforming of high-strength steels; and discussion of new steel technologies in various production vehicles. Also covered: spot welding; steel bumper systems, wheels and fuel tanks; vehicle crashworthiness; and modeling and machinability related to high-strength steels.
