Genesis Systems Group (GSG), Davenport, IA, has been awarded a U.S. patent for its Quick Change Tooling. The unique design is said to be ideal for any industry with a medium-to-high mix of parts or high-changeover applications. By reducing downtime when changing out tools to run a variety of parts, the tooling provides for optimal machine utilization and maximum throughput. Its design reportedly offers a simple one-step process to release the tool from the p ositioner. A repeatable self-alignment system reduces unnecessary wear and eliminates the need for precision alignment due to moving, bumping or initial workcell setup. For safety, a self-engaging latch holds the fixture in place GSG is an integrator of robotic cutting and welding systems.
