Toyota to Build Plant in Mexico

The Toyota Motor Co. plans to construct an automotive manufacturing plant just outside Tijuana, Mexico. Slated for a 2004 opening, the plant would produce beds for pickup trucks built at New United Motor Manufacturing Inc., a General Motors/Toyota joint-venture facility in Fremont, CA. The plant reportedly would be the fifth Toyota vehicle-assembly complex in North America.
