Tower Announces Restructuring, Possible Plant Closure

Tuesday, January 15, 2002

Tower Automotive Inc., Grand Rapids, MI, as part of a restructuring effort, will cut 215 engineering, finance, information-technology and human-resource personnel at the company's technical and administrative centers in Novi, Rochester Hills and Grand rapids, MI: Milwaukee, WI; and some U.S. and Canadian manufacturing operations. This follows notification by Tower Automotive that it may discontinue stamping and ancillary processes at its Milwaukee Press Operations and relocate that to other company or supplier plants. Some 450 hourly and another 40 salaried workers would be affected by such a shutdown. With the closure, the Milwaukee location still would continue frame assembly for Dodge Ram and Ford Ranger trucks.
