CNC Machines Announces Annual Skills-Gap Scholarship

Monday, September 30, 2019

CNC Machines, a Sanford, FL-based CNC machine marketplace, announced that it is accepting applications for a $2500 scholarship to benefit a student pursuing certification, an associate degree or a bachelor’s degree in a manufacturing-related area of study. The company introduced the CNC Machines Manufacturing Scholarship program in 2018.

Over the past several years, the manufacturing sector has been on a growth track, leading to creation of more jobs. Yet, according to a 2018 report by Deloitte, the lack of qualified talent could cause the United States to lose as much as $454 billion in GDP by 2028 .The same research shows the U.S. with more than 500,000 unfilled manufacturing jobs.

“As American manufacturing continues its resurgence, the focus now needs to turn to aggressively addressing the looming and potentially devastating skills gap,” says CNC Machines CEO Curt Doherty.

Scholarship applications are due January 17 with the winner being announced on February 3.
