Baltimore, MD-based Marlin Steel Wire has acquired the assets of Madsen Wire Products, Orland, IN, a manufacturer of security partitions for fleet vehicles and a large manufacturer of wire mesh, wire grid, wire mats and forms and refrigerator shelves. The merger should allow the companies to ship more quickly and provide more capacity to take advantage of larger jobs returning to the United States from China, according to Marlin Industries president Drew Greenblatt.

Marlin Steel makes custom-engineered products of steel wire and sheet metal for the aerospace, defense, medical and automotive industries. The company employs 80 workers and expects to hire up to 15 percent more in the next month.

“We are seeing a surge of business and welcome the abilities of the folks at Madsen,” Greenblatt adds. “We are all in on U.S. manufacturing.”

Madsen Wire Products also announced plans to hire additional workers, to help serve new clients and meet surging demand, and recently has invested in new robotic welding and wire forming technology.
