Industry 4.0 innovations increase the desire and market need to integrate digitalization into production practices, but finding the release time required to modernize manufacturing equipment creates a reoccurring challenge for metal formers. This challenge leads to metal formers delaying or foregoing modernization altogether, or breaking a modernization project up into chunks in hopes that they can decrease press system downtime. Both decisions result in more time and money lost as the common focus is day-to-day versus long-term production planning. Proper proactive maintenance is the industry-wide solution.

SchulerProactive maintenance can be achieved by planning for downtime in advance before damages, complete failure, or the need for obsolete parts, controls, software, etc. occur. Schuler North America, subsidiary of Schuler Group GmbH, offers service agreements that are designed to help metal formers achieve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) through planned downtime for proactive maintenance, inspections, and pre-approved spare parts and services at a discounted rate.

Schuler’s service agreements include a variety of benefits designed to maximize press availability and decrease production costs. These benefits include:

  • 1x press inspection (SDR—Schuler Digital Reports)
  • 40x units of remote support (30 minutes per unit)
  • Schuler Connect© app
  • 25 percent emergency fee waiver
  • Remote service waiver (4 hours minimum)
  • 5 percent spare parts discount
  • 5 percent U.S. labor rate discount
  • Data protection: machine data is backed up and saved
