Beckwood Press Co., St. Louis, MO, announced plans to retrofit an existing 750-ton straightside draw press at Branch Manufacturing Co., North Branch, MN, with new pumps, valves and operating system. The 1979-vintage press features a 60 by 120-in. bed, 24 in. of stroke and 48 in. of daylight.

The scope of the project includes completely redesigning and replacing all hydraulic and electrical components, adding two cylinders with 25-in. stroke to achieve speed requirements, reinforcing the press’ structure to accommodate the new cylinders, and developing a custom HMI with recipe handling and data acquisition.

Beckwood service technicians will perform all work onsite at Branch Manufacturing’s 66,000-sq.-ft. facility. Once complete, the rebuilt press will reach speeds to 410 in./min., up significantly from the original 198 in./min, and include an intuitive operator control station.
