Amidst Slipping Robot Sales, Optimism Abounds

Although North American robot sales continue to slow, industry insiders find reasons for optimism regarding a turnaround. That’s the message coming from the Association for Advancing Automation (A3). Its latest industry data finds that Q1 sales slipped 6% compared to the same period in 2023.
Note: A3 only collects sales data on conventional industrial robots, not autonomous mobile robots or cobots.
“North American robot orders show signs of improvement as we approach mid-year,” says Alex Shikany, A3 VP of membership and market intelligence. “It’s particularly encouraging to see that non-automotive customers continue to grow their adoption of robots.”
Q1 2024 orders from non-automotive companies, says A3, grew 16% compared to Q1 2023.
