DoE AM Lab Implements Sensor System to Help Optimize the DMLS Process
August 23, 2016CommentsThe Department of Energy’s Manufacturing Demonstration Facility at Oak Ridge National Laboratory is collaborating with Stratonics, Inc., to integrate a Stratonics ThermaViz sensor system into its direct-metal laser-sintering (DMLS) process. The sensor system will help researchers correlate actual melt-pool characterizations to simulation-model data. The goal is to eliminate build defects by optimizing operating parameters using in-situ process monitoring and closed-loop control. Learn more about the technology at www.stratonics.com/.
