Georgia Welcomes BIW-Stamping Facility

The voestalpine Group has commenced operations at its new body-in-white (BIW) metalforming facility—Automotive Body Parts Inc.—in Cartersville, GA. The 4000-sq.-m plant, a subsidiary of the firm’s Metal Forming Division, will manufacture ultra-high-strength components for premium car manufacturers. Featured equipment includes an 1100-ton Fagor servo transfer press with 5000- by 2000-mm bed, and a 220-ton Seyi progressive-die press with 2400- by 1250-mm bed. Also on the plant floor are robotic welding and assembly cells, and a Mitutoyo CMM.
