Throughout November and December 2021, the Precision Metalforming Association (PMA) is making a special effort to encourage students and jobseekers across North America to discover the power of apprenticeships. In partnership with Edge Factor, PMA is equipping educators, industry, and workforce leaders with online high-impact tools to showcase and promote apprenticeship training programs and careers. The free Apprenticeships Experience toolkit features five days of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) content filled with inspirational stories, virtual workplace experiences, career profile videos and soft-skills media for students and families to discover.

“PMA is excited to partner with Edge Factor on this much-needed and worthwhile initiative,” says Nichol Lopriore, PMA workforce development director and PMA Educational Foundation executive director. “With the help of Edge Factor, PMA is bringing the Apprenticeships Experience to our members, and to the future generation of manufacturers. We encourage companies to use the resources provided in the toolkit and host an event for their community. It’s a great way to recruit new students to enroll in apprenticeship programs, help them understand how STEAM comes alive in real-world careers, and reach parents to change antiquated perceptions of skilled trades careers.”

“Apprenticeships merge on-the-job training with classroom learning, making it an ideal way for students and job-seekers to gain the skills they need to be successful in their career,” adds Jeremy Bout, founder and president of Edge Factor. “The unique relationship shared between apprentices and trainers is built on growth, sharing of knowledge, and personal development. In the many apprenticeship programs that we have learned about, we’ve heard time and time again that apprentices become journeypersons with better safety performance, greater overall productivity, and fewer mistakes. It’s a rewarding training and career pathway for anyone to take.”
