Lobbying Against Union Leaders and Their Push for Card Check

The Employee Free Choice Act, otherwise known as card check, is the top legislative priority for big labor in the next congressional session. Union leaders are using their political influence and massive coffers to push this legislation through Congress.

In addition to exposing employees to intimidation tactics, the legislation would enact the unprecedented requirement that would mandate the federal government impose contract terms on private employers through a process of mandatory, binding interest arbitration. The arbitration requirement denies workers the ability to vote on their contracts, creates disincentives to compromise and is likely unconstitutional.

PMA is preparing to lobby heavily against the card-check legislation in the 110th Congress, and will call on its membership to help fight and fund this important battle over workers’ rights, and help protect businesses from unprecedented government mandates.
