Seventy-five manufacturers gathered in Washington, D.C., May 6-7, 2014 for the Sixth Annual PMA/NTMA One Voice Legislative Conference. PMA and NTMA members participated in more than 150 House and Senate meetings, including a session with House Speaker John Boehner. Attendees also participated in 15 small, private lunches with members of Congress and their staffs.

Conversations focused on several key issues, including tax reform and the Workforce Investment Act, to help close the skills gap. During their visits, manufacturers also specifically urged Congress to support the R&D bill, which the House passed two days after the visits. The legislation permanently extends and strengthens the Alternative Simplified R&D tax credit at 20 percent.
