The Geka Alfa 150 automatic line for punching and shearing of flats, developed by Comeq Inc., White Marsh, MD, boasts a small footprint due to its compact self-contained design.

The machine will process 4-in. x ½-in. and 6-in. by 3⁄8-in. copper flats, and includes two CNC-selected punches that can be of two different diameters. Also included is a special nondeforming shearing system. The Geka Alfa 150 employs a simple CNC control for X and Y positioning, to ensure accurate hole punching.

Comeq representatives say that the company is experiencing an influx of energy-related industry requests for the high-volume fabrication of copper bus bar, and that the Geka Alfa 150 is the perfect machine for the job since bus-bar fabrication requires multiple holes be punched in multiple places for connection purposes.
