General Sheet Metal Breaks Ground for New Plant

Metal fabricator General Sheet Metal Works, Inc., South Bend, IN, has broken ground for a 180,000-sq.-ft. manufacturing and office facility in South Bend. Over the next three years, the company plans to invest more than $25 million in the facility and equipment, and add more than 25 jobs by 2016. The new facility also will serve as a resource to the community for school outreach programs, training programs, internships and local business-development functions, according to CEO John Axelberg.
In its 94th year of continuous operation by the Axelberg family, General Sheet Metal Works offers prototype-through-production services via a range of fabricating processes.
