Spirol Acquires Ford Aerospace Ltd, South Shields, UK

Ford Aerospace, specialists in manufacturing precision metal components and subassemblies for the aerospace, industrial, and high-technology sectors, has joined the Spirol group of companies. Spirol, which has grown from a single U.S. manufacturing facility to a global enterprise with manufacturing or distribution locations on four continents and twelve countries across North America, South America, Europe and Asia, provides expertise in fastening, joining and assembly. With the acquisition, it looks to take the UK-based Ford Aerospace’s products to a wider international market.  

Ford Aerospace’s technical skills in space-compensating management—the production of laminated and solid shims which ensures fast, precision compensation used on products such as fuselages, gearboxes and movable components—reportedly was a key offering that attracted Spirol.
