Murata Machinery USA Booth S938
Murata Machinery USA’s Fabrication Division, Charlotte, NC, will unveil a new pro- prietary software-control interface designed to increase operator and machine efficiency and product quality, and to provide tool data tracking for turret punch press and loader sys- tems. Donald Angel, the firm’s lead applications engineer, will be speaking about the intelligent control interface at FABTECH, where he will discuss how the software affects tool
setup, turret layout and tool maintenance. Also at the firm’s booth, visitors will spy its new Motorum turret punch press models with improved controls and fresh features. Kick- ing off the product-wide update was the introduction of Motorum 30, rated to 510 hits/min., with a 33-ton servo-driven ram turret and new Fanuc 31i PB control that contains Murata’s Intelligent Control Interface. In August, Murata debuted the Motorum 2048TS series, a high-speed 22-ton machine with a 50- by 100-in. table. Included is the latest Fanuc Oi PB touchscreen control and Murata’s Campath TRM programming feature. www.muratec-usa.com
Cold Work Die Steels
Schmolz+Bickenbach USA Booth S4423
Schmolz+Bickenbach, Carol Stream, IL, will showcase its Cryodur cold-work die steels, which exhibit high hardenability, maximum wear-resistance characteristics, toughness and the compressive strength required for demanding cold-forming applications. Typical applications for Cryodur die steels include punching and bend- ing tools, shear blades, deep-drawing and stamping tools, press-brake tooling, and
                                                                                                                   thread-rolling and rollforming dies.
Tube/Pipe Rotary Head
Cut-off Machines
Graebener-Reika, Inc. Booth S3522
www.schmolz-bickenbach.us
         Graebener-Reika, Reading, PA, a provider
of machinery for processing tube, pipe, bar,
plate and sheetmetal, will display its new
Reika Advantage series rotary-head
machines for cutting tube and pipe. The
machines promise to deliver all of the
quality benefits of rotary-head cutoff tech-
nology in a cost-efficient package with a user-friendly interface. The cutting tool rotates around a stationary tube or pipe, rather than spinning the pipe (as with lathe-style cutting machines). Rotating the cutting tool minimizes the eccentric load on the machine, allowing for faster cutting times and improved tool and equipment life.
Reika Advantage machines will OD-chamfer both ends of a tube and produce accu- rate rectangular and perpendicular cuts with no surface damage. They come in two sizes–a two-slide cutoff with a 17-kW motor, and a four-slide cutoff with a 24-kW motor. Both can process tube diameters from 89 to 219 mm, with wall thickness to 20 mm.
