Roll-Feeder Ills Cured at Automotive Stamper
Williams-Bayer Industries, Westland, MI, a manufacturer of CNC bent tubing, catalytic converter shells, exhaust pipes and other metal stamp- ings and assemblies, recent- ly experienced productivity and quality issues related to its coil-processing equip- ment. After an evaluation by a Coe Press Equipment serv- ice team, the firm learned that the feeder’s side blocks were misaligned and that the rollers on the feeder and the straightener were in need of repair. Coe shipped the equipment back to its factory in Sterling heights, MI, where a crew ground the rollers back to spec and coated them with a new matte chrome finish. They also replaced the bearings and adjusted the side blocks to ensure true alignment of the feeder to the die.
Mower-Blade
Production Moves
to Modern Facility
Fisher Barton Blades, Inc., Watertown, WI, an operating division of Fisher Barton Group, has moved mower- blade production to a larger, more modern manufacturing plant adjacent to the Water- town airport. The new plant has double the manufacturing floor space as the firm’s for- mer plant, which will be used for packaging and direct-order fulfillment, and also lends itself better to cellular manu- facturing and in-line flow.
PPG Facility Producing Conductive Inks and Coatings
Following on its late-2012 acquisition of coatings pro- ducer Spraylat Corp., the PPG Industries facility in Springdale, PA has begun to manufacture conductive inks and coatings for the electron- ics industry. The move marks PPG’s startup of a new elec- tronic materials group. The new inks and coatings find use in medical devices, auto- motive airbags, flexible cir- cuitry, electronic sensing devices and touchscreens.
New Name and Image
for American Tank
American Tank and Fabri- cating, Cleveland, OH, has changed its name to AT&F, reflecting the company’s evo- lution during the last 10 years to become a “global company, serving many mar- kets with a wide variety of precision fabrication prod- ucts and services,” says president Michael Ripich. The company performs press-brake forming, laser and plasma cutting, robotic contour beveling, machining, heavy rolling and welding.
Unison Expands
Production Capacity for
its Tube Bending Machines
A new 24,000-sq.-ft. facili- ty in Scarborough, UK, more than doubles the production capacity of Unison to manu- facture its all-electric tube- bending machines. And, the facility reduces machine-build time by 15 percent, thanks in part to a $470,000 invest- ment in a new, large CNC machining center, allowing the firm to bring previously subcontracted machining
