Interplex Adds Overmolding to its Skill Set in Hungary
Automotive and electrical-industry supplier Interplex Hungary, a division of Interplex Industries, College Point, NY, has added a 30-ton overmolding line to its metalforming and assembly facility. Its first overmolded parts will be a range of automotive connectors; production should launch during the first half of 2013. The line is part of an expansion phase at the plant, in Kunszentmarton, that includes a 40-ton vertical press as well as two 150-ton presses scheduled to be installed early in 2013.
Minnesota Waterjet Shop Adds Four-head Cutting Machine
Precision Waterjet Concepts Inc., Pequot Lakes, MN, has installed its third waterjet-cutting system from Jet Edge Inc., St. Michael, MN, this one a 4- by 4- ft. gantry machine equipped with four abrasive-jet cutting heads and a 150-hp intensifier pump. Precision Waterjet Con- cepts has grown 20 to 30 percent per year since opening in 2002; its 19,000- sq.-ft. shop houses three 3-axis waterjet systems and three 5-axis systems.
ATW Companies Consolidates Firearms Operations
ATW Companies has relocated the gun-magazine manufacturing operations of its Metalform division from New Britain, CT, to its headquarters facility in Warwick, RI. Metalform’s process capa- bilities include deep drawing, stamping and pistol-magazine (38- and 45-caliber and 9-mm) fabrication. ATW, which acquired Metalform in 2011, performs CNC machining, metal-injection molding, laser cutting and stamping.
ETA Opens So-Cal Office
Engineering Technology Associates (ETA), Troy, MI, developer of the Inven- tium Suite of modeling, stamping and simulation software, has opened an office in Los Angeles, CA. The new office
will provide simulation and analysis serv- ices for regional OEMs and suppliers in the hybrid and EV vehicle, aerospace and electronics industries.
Precision Cylindrical-Grinding Services for Steel Fabricators and Coil Processors
The maintenance and repair facility of Menges Roller Co., Wauconda, IL, has expanded its service offerings to include precision cylindrical-grinding services. The facility is equipped to breathe new life into straightener rolls, work rolls, flat- tener rolls and other related equipment. It can regrind rolls as large as 24-in. dia. and 20 ft. long.
Baird is Manufacturing Fourslides and Transfer Presses
Baird Machinery Corp. announced that it now is building the new Nilson Model 1- FB fourslide at its plant in Thomaston, CT, in the 700L, 751, 2-F and 3-FB models. It’s also building new U.S. Baird transfer presses in models 2-19, 3-25, 3L-25, 3L-37, 3L-45, 4-44,4-56, 5-51, 5-60 and 5L-51.
Ten New Coil-Processing Lines— Three of Them Zig-Zag Equipped— Headed to North American Stamping Group
Coe Press Equipment, Sterling Heights, MI, has received an order for 10 coil-processing lines from North American Stamping Group, for its facili- ties in Portland, TN; Woodstock, Ontario, Canada; and Queretaro, Mexico. Among the lines, seven are conventionally equipped for progressive-stamping oper- ations, and three feature zig-zag servo- feed capabilities.
Architectural Fabricator Adds 12-ft. Press Brake
SAF-West, Redding, CA, an aluminum distributor and fabricator focused on supplying the architectural market, has added a 175-ton 12-ft. AccurPress press brake to its fab shop. The new brake comes on the heels of the firm’s new anodizing line, and complements its existing capabilities including shearing, welding and routing.
