Newcomb Spring Launches Advanced Version of its Springulator Mobile App

Pilz, Canton, MI, has built out its com- prehensive Risk Assessment/Machinery Safety Audit services with the introduction of Machinery Safety Evaluations (MSEs), a new service to evaluate the safety of machines. Metal formers now can obtain a simple, fast overview of the safety and conformity status of their machines via a dashboard.
The MSE service comprises an onsite machinery evaluation regarding the appli- cable safety and conformity requirements. During the process, Pilz not only accounts for the standards and directives applicable at the machine’s place of use or desti- nation, but, on request, also can consider a customer’s individual, inhouse specifi- cations. The result: The current conformity status of each plant or machine can be viewed on a clear, comprehensive soft- ware-based dashboard. A list of measures
Newcomb Spring Corp., Alpharetta, GA, a supplier of custom-manufactured springs, wire forms and metal stampings, has launched its Springulator 2.0 mobile app, an advanced version of its popular spring- calculator app. Available on Google Play and the Apple Store, Springulator is a tool that engineers and designers can use to check the stress of a design, calculate spring functions and test spring capabilities. It features easy-to-use functions, reference diagrams and stress charting, providing data for compression springs (one- or two- load, rate-based or dimensional), extension springs and torsion springs. Users also can provide calculation data to Newcomb for custom spring production.
Among new features in the 2.0 version:
• New material types, including Inconel 600 and X750, Hastelloy C 276 and Eligiloy • Finish-type specification for all spring
types
• Choice of standard or crossover hooks for extension springs
• Suggested body-length display for extension-spring crossover hooks
• Users can specify coil gap for exten- sion springs
• Users can specify leg length for tor- sion springs.
