Headed to Canada
The Die-Max Tool & Die facility in Ajax, Ontario, Cana- da has acquired a new heavy- duty servo feed/straightener combination machine from CHS Automation, Roseville, MI. The feed/straightener is a CHS Model DRFS-5-54, with the ability to feed 0.1-in.-thick stock to 54 in. wide. Features include a seven-roll straight- ener, power pinch rolls with motorized threading assist and digital LED readouts for roll adjustment. Die-Max also ordered, for its facility in Tulla-
homa, TN, a CHS control retrofit-upgrade package for an existing 72-in. servo feed.

Future Products, Clawson, MI, a manufacturer of die tool- ing and machined compo- nents, has added a Roku- Roku HC 658 vertical machining center to its ranks. Installed at the firm’s Metal Punch facility in Cadillac, MI, the HC-658 boasts a spindle speed of 200 to 32,000 RPM; high-speed direct hard milling can be done by dry or semidry oil-mist systems.

Ontario, Canada. The 160,000-sq.-ft. facility, dou- ble the size of its previous plant, will enable the compa- ny “to take on more and larg- er projects requiring more material handling,” says president and CEO Bob Repovs.

The speed and flexibility to respond to production demands, reduced toll-pro- cessing fees, reduced scrap and improved quality—all are reasons why beverage-cooler manufacturer Frigoglass North America, Spartanburg, SC, decided to install a new cut-to-length (CTL) line and bring blanking inhouse. The line, manufactured by Coe Press Equipment, Sterling
Heights, MI, features a servo roll feed, straightener with 5-in. pinch rolls, and an integrated 60-in. hydraulic shear and single-station drop stacker. It can process coils to 60 in. wide by 20,000 lb., with the ability to handle prepainted steel to 0.078 in. thick at 60 in. wide, and 0.090 in. wide at 48 in. wide. Maximum speed is 30 strokes/min., 120 ft./min.
Certifications
The Robotic Industries Association (RIA), Ann Arbor, MI, has awarded its Certified Robot Integrator designation to Lincoln Electric, Cleve- land, OH. Certified integra- tors (there are 15 to date) undergo a rigorous process that includes an onsite audit, safety training and hands-on testing of key personnel.
