Nikon Metrology Opens New North American Tech Center
Brighton, MI, is the home of a new technology center opened by Nikon Metrology, Inc. On display is the firm’s impressive lineup of prod- ucts including metrology sys- tems, surface profilers, digi- tal microscopes and laser scanners.
Spartanburg Steel Installs Coe Press-Feed Line
Coe Press Equipment, Sterling Heights, MI, has shipped a 30-in. by 10,000- lb. coil-feed line to Spartan- burg Steel Products, Spartan- burg, SC, a manufacturer of metal stampings and welded
subassemblies for the auto- motive, agricultural, lawn-and- garden and heavy-truck industries. The coil line can process steel to 1⁄4 in. thick at 50,000-psi yield strength; its servo roll feed offers a maximum roll speed of 317 ft./min. Included is a power straightener with a 20-hp ac variable-speed drive and digi- tal control, and an alligator- style peeler dekinker station for hands-free threading.
Ace Metal Crafts Moves to New Digs
An 82,000-sq.-ft. plant in Bensenville, IL, is the new home of Ace Metal Crafts, specialists in stainless-steel fabrication. The firm provides laser cutting, forming, weld- ing, sanitary finishes and value engineering. It has stocked the new, larger plant
with plenty of new equip- ment, including a third laser- cutting machine and a nitro- gen-generating system to support its laser-processing operations, as well as addi- tional welding equipment that boosts capacity by
30 percent.
Plater/Metal Finisher Establishes a Presence in Mexico
Incertec, Fridley, MN, a specialty plating and metal- finishing company, has acquired the assets of CRS Aerospace in Empalme, Sonora, Mexico. The facility will provide secondary processes such as NADCAP- certified anodizing, cleaning, painting and nondestructive testing, and within a year also will offer the same processes as the U.S. facility,
including plating on plastics. Incertec will use the facility to serve customers in the aero- space, medical-device, elec- tronics and connector indus- tries operating in Mexico as well as in California.
Waterjet Job Shop Adds Second Two-Axis Cutting Machine
Precision Waterjet Con- cepts, Pequot Lakes, MN, has installed its second two- axis waterjet-cutting machine from Jet Edge Inc., St. Michael, MN. The mid-rail gantry machine features a model iP60-150 waterjet intensifier pump (60 ksi, 150 hp) and can process material to 8 by 13 ft. The company began as a five-axis shop in 2002, and installed its first Jet Edge two-axis machine in 2006.
