The Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG), South- field, MI, elected John Batchik chairman of the board, and David Kneisler vice chairman. Both will serve 2-yr. terms effective Jan. 1, 2011. System Earns
Innovation Award
The VRTEX 360 virtual- reality welding system from Lincoln Electric Co., Cleve- land, OH, has earned the 2011 Heinz Sossenheimer Award from the International
Institute of Welding (IIW). The award is given every two years in recognition of “inno- vative software solutions making a decisive contribu- tion to improving the long- term quality and/or safety of applications in the fields of joining, cutting or coating.” Lincoln introduced the VRTEX 360 in 2009 as an educa- tional and training system, to allow students to practice their welding technique in a simulated environment.
Rollformer Earns Quality, Delivery Award
Hynes Industries, Youngstown, OH, earned a Platinum Award for outstand- ing quality and delivery per- formance from Wabash National Corp., a manufactur- er of truck trailers. Hynes, which received the award at
Wabash’s recent Key Supplier Conference in Lafayette, IN, supplies rollformed roof bows, side posts and other structural and cargo restraint components for Wabash’s over-the-road trailers. Hynes achieved 100-percent on-time delivery and has maintained an 8-PPM quality record.
