destaco-92-series-electric-clampsDestaco, Auburn Hills, MI, introduces its intelligent 92W Series electric power clamps. Operating without compressed air, the clamps promise to reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions, company officials say, and, as a plug-and-play solution, pave the way for flexible production processes.

"Electric drives, compared to pneumatic,” explains global product manager Christian Schubert, “reduce energy costs by as much as 85%. They eliminate the need for compressed air lines and associated pneumatic equipment. And electric drives offer a high degree of flexibility, which significantly reduces the need for an expansive spare-parts inventory."

The electric clamps boast integrated intelligence, providing essential data for process optimization without the need for external sensors. Even during installation, these values allow the user to conveniently adjust the speed, positioning and/or torque to fine-tune production. During subsequent operation, the values are used to analyze process quality.

The control of the electric clamps is decentralized and attached directly to the production devices, minimizing cable length and cost, freeing up space, and ensuring seamless integration of the clamping system into the production system. Reliable voltage, signal and data management also facilitate digital planning, along with providing quick and easy installation and commissioning.
