Voestalpine Opens Steel Store
Voestalpine High Perform- ance Metals Corp. has opened its newest steel store in Cleve- land, TN, near Chattanooga. The facility specializes in pro- viding tool steels for customers’ tool-, die- and mold-making needs. The announcement and facility opening follows the opening of the company’s coatings facility, which is co- located with the steel store. “With our local stock and coat- ings capabilities we offer the best of both worlds,” says Adam Steorn, regional manag- er-Eastern United States.
EOAT Provider Opens R&D Office in CA
OnRobot, provider of end- of-arm tooling (EOAT) for col- laborative-robot applications, has opened its first location dedicated to R&D in the Unit- ed States. The Los Angeles (Culver City), CA, office com- prises 6000 sq. ft. and hous- es engineers, researchers and local staff tasked with devel- oping new products.
Last year marked OnRo- bot’s first foray into the Los Angeles area, as it acquired Perception Robotics and its Gecko Gripper technology, and developed it for commercial launch. The tactile Gecko Grip- per uses millions of micro- scaled fibrillar stalks that adhere to a surface the same way that lizards climb, enabling it to pick up porous and delicate objects.
The collaborative-robot market now is the fastest growing segment of industrial automation, expected to jump ten-fold to 34 percent of all industrial robot sales by 2025, according to the International Federation of Robotics.
Anodized Aluminum Melds With Restaurant Chain
When the restaurant chain Shake Shack sought an authentic look and unique col- ors inside each of its loca- tions, it turned to Lorin Indus- tries, a Muskegon, MI-based provider of coil anodized alu- minum, which provided the restaurant chain with the col- ors and finish it needed. Com- plementing the Metafor struc- tural ribbed panels provided by ATAS International, Mesa, AZ, the anodized aluminum
found on the restaurants’ wall panels and surfaces include these colors: zinc, copper, dark bronze and black. The finish resists fingerprinting and doesn’t degrade when exposed to cleaning solvents.
Reshoring Initiative’s President Named
to Department of Commerce Council
The U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC) has named Harry Moser, founder and president of the Reshoring Ini- tiative, a member of DOC’s newly created Investment Advisory Council. The Council will advise the Secretary of Commerce on how govern- ment policies and programs affect the United States’ abili- ty to attract and facilitate busi- ness investment.
