Coldwater Machine Announces Plant Expansion
Coldwater Machine Co., Coldwater, OH, a designer and manufacturer of automation and precision-machining equipment, announced plans to add a 27,500-sq.-ft. addi- tion to its current manufactur- ing facility. The addition will include three 60 by
150-ft. bays dedicated to the assembly of automated machines, and will bring the total size of the plant to 132,500 sq. ft. Completion is expected by the end of November this year.
Part and assemblies manu- facturer Waukesha Metal Prod- ucts, Sussex, WI, hired Carolyn Jacobson to serve as global director of launch, quality and improvement. Jacobson will partner with management and operations leaders to focus on the implementation of policies to maximize operational effi- ciency.
Increasing use of advanced steels with higher yield strengths was taking a toll on Liberty Steel’s 20-year-old COE coil processing line and challenging its ability to achieve flatness requirements. Rather than replace the entire line, COE upgraded the existing straightener head with a new HD series heavy duty power straightener, saving the company significant money, and improving process and part quality.
