treatment, grinding or other surface treat- ment is necessary. Features of this portable unit include a rotary applicator, rapid application, digital readout and touch- panel controls. This surface treatment can increase productivity and reduce costs, state company officials, as tools and dies remain in operation without replacement due to wear, meaning less machine downtime, operator idle time, and expense related to new or resharpened tools and dies.

Miller Electric Mfg. Co. highlighted its new Auto-Con- tinuum 350 and 500 power supplies for gas-metal-arc welding (GMAW), designed to deliver advanced arc per- formance to improve throughput and weld quality in demanding automation applications. The machines feature an adaptive arc to minimize spatter and improve gap handling, and provide
increased travel speeds on a variety of base materials. The Auto-Continuum 350 (pictured) delivers 350 A at 31.5 V at 100-percent-duty cycle); the Auto- Continuum 500 provides 500 A and 39 V at 100-percent-duty cycle.
Both machines power GMAW and flux-cored welding processes, as well
as advanced processes, including
Miller’s Accu-Pulse and Regulated Metal Deposition processes. In addition, the machines are capable of advanced pulse processes, like the new Versa-Pulse, along with high-deposition GMAW processes.
TigerStop, Vancouver, WA, a manufac- turer of automated stop/gauge and pusher systems, introduced its SawGear add-on automation equipment for Piranha iron- workers, designed to automate shearing and punching operations. With SawGear added to the shearing station, the operator just enters the part length into the SawGear controller and the stop moves to position. The operator then places workpiece mate- rial through the shear against the stop, and cuts.
Included is Miller’s Insight Core, an Internet-based solution that reports cell productivity and weld-parameter verification, providing basic production metrics such as amps, volts, wire-feed speed, arc-on time and arc-on time percentage.

Portable, Rapid Carbide Application for Tools and Dies
The SawGear employs an angled push- er arm that can easily be adjusted to accommodate different material sizes. Shops that shear large quantities of dif- ferent-length parts will experience labor savings, improved accuracy and increased output without having to invest in new machinery.
Rocklin Manufac- turing Co., Sioux City, IA, demonstrated the Rocklinizer Model 850, which applies tungsten carbide, tita- nium carbide and hard electrode mate- rial in thicknesses from 0.0002 to 0.007 in. to repair metals, tools and dies.
Also available for Piranha ironworkers: the TigerStop automated punching setup, which comes with a stop, back fence, table and interconnect kit. It allows users to download cut lists and run the tool with an incremental movement or pattern list. Users also can place material, enter a length and use the TigerStop as an automated stop. Every time the material moves, the operator uses the foot pedal to cycle the tool.

nates and deposits wear-resistant material both underneath and on top of metal surfaces. Unlike welding or metal spraying, no appreciable heat is generated; and the electrode material will not separate or flake off the workpiece. After applying, no heat-
