  Software for Manufacturing
New CAD/CAM Software Promises Time Savings in Roughing Operations
Tebis America, Troy, MI, has launched Version 4.0 Release 2 of its CAD/CAM software, especially well-suited to the rough machining of deep cavities and for hard- material machining. During roughing, the depth of cut and the best utilization of cutting data ensure fast and cost- effective manufacturing while keeping tool costs low. The tool path auto- matically adapts to the geometry with- out full-width machining. The inte- grated re-roughing counteracts the formation of larger steps in steep boundary areas. These areas can be machined from bottom to top with a
While other cloud-based providers, say company officials, own their software and charge a monthly subscription fee to access it and your data on their server, users of cloud-based MIE Trak Pro own the software and licensing. Further, because each user owns the software and its company data, an accelerated depreciation allowance up to $500,000 can be taken in the first year.
factors,” explains Helmut Vergin, Tebis product manager. “These include the geometry, material and available tools and machines. Technology parameters such as cutting data and feed rates must be adapted
according to the machining.”

Energy-Industry Materials Supplier Implements New ERP Software
Engineering Technology Associates (ETA), Inc., Troy, MI, announced the release of Dynaform Version 5.9.3, simulation software developed to simulate the sheet- forming process and analyze the entire die system. This new edition promises an even more streamlined and robust expe- rience, say ETA officials, with major improve- ments in blank/trimline development (depicted in the accompanying photo), the addition of automatic springback com- pensation and process templates, and a new license control.
Edgen Murray, Baton Rouge, LA, a supplier of pipe, tube, fabricated metal products and other specialized products to the energy and infrastructure markets, recently implemented Stratix metal-enterprise ERP software from Invera. Stratix features include quote and order entry, mill test-certificate scanning, online production and shipment planning, and multi-company functionality. Edgen Murray also implemented Stratix/CSX, a product that provides customer specified extensions for Stratix.
Says Alan Jones, Edgen Murray senior VP and CIO: “We successfully implemented the system in the Americas, Asia Pacific, Europe and the Middle East. There has been a clear benefit to our company in using a business system built from the ground up for the metal industry. The application controls in Stratix have enabled us to successfully pass multiple U.S. and Japanese audits.”
Edgen also has benefited from the consolidated stock inquiry feature in the software, a multi-company function that allows an authorized user in any of the Edgen Murray companies to view stock across the enterprise in a single view, and avoids the need to log in to each company separately to view stock.

Improvements to blank/trimline devel- opment include combining the interface for blank development and trimline devel- opment. Users now can develop the blank outline and trimline simultaneously, develop partial blank outlines and trimlines, and develop a blank outline with a cut pattern.
MIE Solutions Adds Cloud-Based Managed Services
When running the springback function in Dynaform, the user first defines the stamping stages, and then defines the tool to be compensated, compensation zone, compensation method, scale factor and iterations for a customized and accurate
MIE Solutions, Garden Grove, CA, has added cloud-based managed services to its MIE Trak Pro ERP offering. Features include reduced overall cost of ownership, and data storage on a dedicated server.
