tures division to nurture start-up ideas.
Missouri University of Science and Technology, Rolla, MO, has partnered with Honeywell Federal Manufacturing & Technologies, Kansas City, MO, to perform material analysis related to selective laser melting (SLM) in a metal-powder bed.
“The opening of our Pflugerville facility helps us deliver better and faster service and support to our regional customers,” says Glynn Fletcher, president of EOS North America, Inc. “Pflugerville’s location near Austin, one of the fastest-growing technology hubs in the United States, allows us to make connections with some of the most notable technology organizations and schools in the nation and enables a high-level, optimum response to our customers’ needs across multiple time zones.”
The five-year, $6.5-million project, using equipment pur- chased and installed at Missouri S&T by Honeywell, has four objec- tives: 1) predict properties of the built parts, 2) control microstruc- tures to achieve desired properties, 3) maximize powder reuse and 4) increase product sustainability.
