  Software for Manufacturing
Homeyer Purchases Manufacturing-Analytics Software
Southwest Steel Coil Implements ERP System
Homeyer Precision Manufacturing Co., Marthasville, MO, has purchased Merlin Enterprise Edition, an Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) company-wide communications platform that provides manufacturing analytics in real time, from Memex Inc. The sale includes 23 licenses of Merlin for overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) and direct numerical control, as well as nine MTConnect hard- ware adapters for legacy CNC-manufacturing machines.
Steel service center Southwest Steel Coil Inc., Santa Teresa, NM, a division of Calstrip Industries, has implemented Stratix metal- service-center ERP software from Invera.
“IIoT is a powerful trend, and Merlin makes IIoT real by equip- ping industrial machines with the necessary interfaces for connecting, collecting and analyzing manufacturing data in real time,” says Home- yer, who also is chairman of the board for the National Tooling and Machining Association. “One of the things that most impressed us is how no machine is left behind regardless of make or vintage, and the software’s ability to implement quickly on our factory floor with- out costly integration services or associated time lags. With this real- time visibility, we look forward to a significant boost in OEE.”
Southwest Steel implemented a full complement of Stratix fea- tures such as online production planning, online slitter and cut- to-length setup functions, shop-floor receipt of goods, shop- floor production recording and packaging with barcode scanning, toll processing, and online shipment planning.
Homeyer Precision Manufacturing produces precision metal parts for many industries, including aerospace, defense, oil and gas, and energy production. Memex provides manufacturing-pro- ductivity analytics.

Implementation of the metals-ERP software included sales, pur- chasing, receiving, inventory management, multi-step production, production scheduling, delivery and logistics planning, non-con- formance reporting, invoicing, and financials.
“When our customers call for a status of the order, we can tell them exactly where their order stands in our company,” says Ed Camden, Southwest Steel president, “and the nonconformance- reporting functions help us keep a close eye on any customer feed- back and ensure we deliver high-quality products.”
Invera provides steel and metal-service-center ERP software, metals-industry-based business-analytics dashboards and Inter- net systems.
