and consistently high quality, combined with maximum process reliability and avail- ability,” explains Dr. Martin Habert, man- aging director of Schuler in Waghäusel, Ger- many. The press line also is equipped with EHF technology (efficient hydraulic form- ing), which minimizes energy consumption and includes built-in condition-monitoring.
“The Weldblocks offer an ideal solution for fabricators needing to fight the high elec- trical noise from their welding applica- tions, while keeping their controls cabinets lean,” says Tom Rosenberg, Balluff’s direc- tor of marketing. “With IO-Link on board, Weldblock IO-Link masters and I/O hubs can build entire controls architecture around the weld cell that previously pre- sented a challenge.”
Schuler Opens Hot- Stamping TechCenter
“Hot stamping is an important method for producing lightweight car bodies and plays an important role in Schuler’s prod- uct spectrum,” adds CEO Stefan Klebert. “Our new Hot Stamping TechCenter is proof of our innovative strength in the field of fully automatic, networked production lines and our commitment to Germany as a high-tech manufacturing location.”
Weldblocks promote machine-mount distributed modular architecture with IO-Link. The network node with IO-Link master on the Weldblock communicates over Ethernet/IP with the PLC or the machine controller, while the IO-Link ports can be connected to a variety of IO-Link-enabled smart sensor devices or to Balluff IO-Link I/O hubs.
Schuler has opened its new research and demonstration center for hot stamp- ing at its home base in Göppingen, Ger- many. The Hot Stamping TechCenter will serve as a showcase for innovative appli- cations related to lightweight vehicle con- struction. Schuler has invested some 6.5 million euros in the facility’s hot-stamping line, equipped with a hydraulic press, roller hearth furnace and automation. The 1600-metric-ton press boasts Schuler’s PCHflex technology.
The Hot Stamping TechCenter will main- ly be used for the ongoing development of machine technology and lightweight-vehi- cle construction. Schuler also plans to use the center for customer presenta- tions and training.

The Weldblock family also includes I/O hubs with Balluff expansion ports to expand the total configurable I/O count per IO-Link port to 30, or the entire I/O count
