A Press-Brake Operator’s Best Friend
Wila USA, Hanover, MD, introduces the Smart Tool Locator, a tool designed to increase press-brake productivity. Integrated LED lights in the firm’s new standard hydraulic clamping system indicate, under the control of the press-brake CNC, where the press brake operator should position the tooling. The Smart Tool Locator also indicates to the operator where to make the next bend, following the bend sequence of the part being formed.
The LED lights mount behind the ruler inside the cover strip of the clamping sys- tem. This protects them from damage and avoids interfering with the sheetmetal part being formed.
Wila offers the Smart Tool Locator as an option on its standard premium clamp- ing system, and expects that later this year it will be available on other Wila tool hold- ers as well as for retrofit.

Quick-Change Tube-Bend Tooling
AddisonMckee, Lebanon, OH, has designed an innovative quick-change tool system that promises to dramatically reduce the manpower and time required for changing tooling on tube-bending machines. With the quick-change tool sys- tem, part-to-part tool changes with either single or multi-stack tooling can be accomplished by one person in less than 10 min.
The system holds the bend die and wiper posts together as a set by a lifting plate, which negates the need for wiper or bracket adjustments during tooling changeovers. Retaining the bend die and wiper posts as a pair makes the wiper inserts less susceptible to acci- dental damage. The lift plate includes a single hook for removing the bend die and wiper post together via a small crane mounted to the tube-bending machine.
