Cost Estimation
Engineering Technology Associates Booth S4717
Engineering Technology Associates, Inc. (ETA), Troy, MI, will demonstrate its BSE-in-NX blank-size engineering module for the NX environment. It’s a complete toolset for accurately predicting flat- blank profiles, optimal nesting layouts and forming feasibility for 3D part models,
designed for users of Siemens’ NX dig- ital product-development software, via an icon on the NX toolbar.
BSE-in-NX can be used by cost esti- mators to calculate blank outlines and determine ideal nesting layouts and material usage for accurate quoting, and by product designers to evaluate the formability of new designs. The functions are available within the NX user interface and operate directly on the NX model with-
out data translation.
The BSE-in-NX module can analyze and
determine accurate blank profiles for even the most complex part geometry, includ- ing components with significant materi- al stretch or undercut conditions. It also features an integrated nesting solution, including options for 1-up, 2-up, 2-pair, mir- rored and multiple blank nesting con- figurations. Simulation results of part formability indicate the potential for cracking, thinning and wrinkling. Final reports then are automatically generat- ed to summarize the estimated blank size, ideal nesting parameters and asso- ciated costs.

Has Taiwanese Roots
Fong Gai USA Booth S4676
FKI USA, part of Taiwan-based Fong Kai Industrial, manufactures progressive and transfer dies, and production stamped parts for Fortune 500 customers locat- ed in North America. End-user markets include the appliance, automotive and consumer electronics industries.
Visit the booth to learn how the com- pany, based in Dallas, TX, has made sig- nificant investments to better meet cus- tomer needs for tooling and production stamped parts. Dies can be designed, built and maintained in a modern tool- room, and when lower-cost alternatives are needed FKI also can build tools at its facilities in China. Or, it can provide a hybrid tool build—a combination solution where components are built in both locations. Customers can approve new dies and perform trial runs at the 86,000- sq.-ft. Dallas facility. Press capacity ranges from 200 to 600 tons.
