Formtek Inc., Cleveland, OH, has agreed to purchase Roto-Die, Inc., also based in Cleveland. Roto-Die manufac- tures hydraulic press brakes from 60- to 144-in. capacity. Formtek’s metalforming-equip- ment manufacturing brands include Iowa Precision, Lock- former, Engel, Lion and ISM.

Donates Vacuum Furnace
The teaching lab at ASM International, Materials Park, OH, is the proud owner of a new vacuum furnace, donated by Solar Atmos- pheres, Souderton, PA. The gift, valued at $250,000, commemorates ASM’s 100th anniversary, being celebrated in 2013. The fur- nace hot zone measures 12
by 12 by 18 in., and reaches 2400 F; load capacity is 250 lb. Students of the teaching lab will use it to perform tests and experi- ments related to heattreat- ing, brazing and sintering.
Connecticut Spring &
Stamping Launches
Apprenticeship Program
Eleven people have enrolled in a new inhouse apprenticeship program launched at Connecticut Spring & Stamping (CSS), Farmington, CT. The program replaces a state-funded train- ing program the firm had pre- viously used to train tool and die makers and machine operators. Program tracks include CNC production setup, press and fourslide diemaking, and press and fourslide operations. CSS
