Sko-Die Adds Laser-Cutting Machine, Robotic-Welding System
Custom metal stamper and fabricator Sko-Die Inc., Morton Grove, IL, has added an Amada FO MII 4-kW CO2 laser-cutting machine to its stable. Also new to the firm’s 60,000-sq.-ft. shop: a Miller Electric Model 350S robotic- welding system.
Miyachi Unitek Expanding in California
Welding- and cutting-sys- tem manufacturer Miyachi Unitek Corp. has leased additional office space in Monrovia, CA. It plans to migrate existing office space to the newly acquired build- ings, and expand the manu- facturing space in its 70,000-sq.-ft. main facility. The firm, which now operates from 85,000 sq. ft. of space, manufactures equipment for resistance and laser welding, laser marking and cutting, and more.
Illinois Fabricator Recapitalized
Pressure-vessel and heat- exchanger fabricator Kopetz Mfg., Inc., Decatur, IL, has been recapitalized by private- equity firm LMW2 Partners, LLC. Sikich Investment Bank- ing, Chicago, IL, served as financial advisor to the own- ers of Kopetz, a firm founded in 1976. Its 22,000-sq.-ft. shop houses equipment for plate rolling, arc welding and metallized spraying, for fabri- cating vessels to 162-in. O.D. by 150-ft. long.
Balluff Moves to Bigger Digs in Chicago
The Midwest regional sales team for Balluff, Inc. has moved to a new, larger facility in Itasca, IL. The new facility features areas for customer testing and valida- tion of the firm’s advanced control-system architectures and sensing packages. The Balluff Midwest sales team comprises nine people who work in accounts, industry and project management and technical support.

Renault Approves Irmco Stamping Lubricant
The oil-free medium-vis- cosity Irmco 146 series of synthetic lubricant from Irmco Advanced Lubricant Technologies, Evanston, IL, has been approved by Renault for use in all of its plants. Irmco reportedly received the first U.S. OEM approval in 1989 (Nissan), and now has done so in Europe with Renault.
ATI Stellram Inherits Greenfield Industries’ Assembled
Threading Tools
Finalizing its acquisition of the assembled threading tools product lines of Green- field Industries, Inc., ATI Stell- ram, LaVergne, TN, now mar- kets the Greenfield brands including Geometric, Super- metric, Vers-O-Tool and Acme- Fette. The new selection of assembled threading tools complements the firm’s Lan- dis product offering by expanding the range of die heads for thread rolling and cutting, thread-chasing tools
