Hydraulic Coining Press to Manufacturer of Brake Parts
Greenerd Press & Machine Co., Inc., Nashua, NH, has delivered a 1000- ton hydraulic coining press to the South Bend, IN plant of Global Parts Networks, LLC (GPN). GPN manufac- tures brake shoes, brake- shoe kits, friction material and related parts for tractor trailers and heavy-duty trucks.
The press is the firm’s second from Greenerd; both are used to coin remanufac- tured brake shoes in a sin- gle-stroke hand-fed opera- tion. It’s an eight-point gib-guided press with a 36- by 36-in. bed, 28 in of day- light, 12-in. adjustable stroke and pressing speed to 23 in./min. A pre-slowdown cir- cuit allows the operator to set the height for changeover from rapid-advance to press- ing speed.
Neff Press Installs Deep-Draw Filter-Can Line
Baldwin Filters, Kearney, NE, a manufacturer of com- mercial-truck, off-road and industrial filters, has installed a new deep-draw can-making line from Neff Press, St. Louis, MO.
Baldwin senior manufac- turing engineer John Macran- der and Neff Press chief engineer Jon Schmidt will provide a technical presenta- tion on the line during the FABTECH 2013 education program, at a Deep Draw Technologies track on Thurs- day, Nov. 21, from 8 to 10 a.m. The case study will
include basic information on deep-draw technology, and explain the line’s high-speed servo-hydraulics, quick die change, automated blank handling, in-die sensing and servo transfers. FABTECH runs November 18-21, 2013 at McCormick Place, Chicago, IL.
