Alliance Holdings, Inc., Abington, PA, has acquired Walker Magnetics Group, Inc., Worcester, MA, with plans to retain key Walker management personnel. Walker designs and manu- factures magnetic products for workholding, material handling and separation applications.
Industrial Innovations Adds Alabama Distributor
Lubrication-system manu- facturer Industrial Innova- tions, Wyoming, MI, has added Manufacturing Tech- nology LLC (M-Tech), Pelham, AL, as a distributor, serving Alabama and Mississippi. M-tech also distributes presses, coil-processing equipment, rollforming machines, controls, quick- die-change apparatus and other pressroom equipment.
Metal/Plastic Fabricator Acquires Rapid-Prototyping Company
Tenere Inc., Dresser, WI, a fabricator of complex metal and plastic components and assemblies, has acquired Protogenic, Westminster, CO. Protogenic operates out of a 22,500-sq.-ft. rapid-prototyp- ing facility and performs stereolithography, laser sin- tering, 3D printing, CNC machining and production RTV molding.

Grinding-wheel manufac- turer CGW-Camel Grinding
Wheels, Niles, IL, has acquired Pacific Abrasive Supply Co. (Pasco), Buena Park, CA. Originally founded as a distributor of abrasive products and other industrial supplies, Pasco evolved into manufacture of abrasive belts and other coated abra- sive products including sheets, discs and rolls.
Stamper Earns 5-yr. Supply Agreement with Heat-Exchanger OEM
P&G Steel Products, Buffa- lo, NY, has signed a 5-yr. con- tract to supply aluminum and steel stampings and welded assemblies to TitanX Engine Cooling, Jamestown, NY. TitanX supplies heat-exchang- er systems to the North American heavy-truck indus- try. P&G operates stamping presses to 1000 tons, manu- facturing progressive, deep- drawn and transfer stamp- ings, as well as fabricated metal parts, CNC machined components and robotically welded assemblies.

NTMA Names New Chairman
The National Tooling and Machining Association (NTMA), Cleveland, OH, named Bob Mosey its 2013 chairman of the board of trustees. Mosey, who previ- ously served as vice chairman of the NTMA board, is CEO and president of Mosey Pro- duction Machinists, Anaheim, CA. NTMA’s theme for 2013 is “Stewardship of the Manu- facturing Industry,” focused on four main concepts: work- force development, industry advocacy, membership value and governance.
Steel Industry’s Lifetime Achievement Award
The Steel Market Develop- ment Institute (SMDI) award- ed its 2013 Lifetime Achieve- ment Award to Will M. Heenan, Jr., who served as president of the Steel Recy- cling Institute from 1990 to December 2010. Prior to joining the institute, Heenan was general manager, tin mill products, for U.S. Steel Corp. SMDI is a business unit of the American Iron and Steel Institute.

American Hydrostatics Moves to Larger Facility, Plans to Increase Production and Hiring
Following a nearly $1 mil- lion investment from Delta Asset Advisors, American Hydrostatics, Sterling Heights, MI, has moved to a facility three times as large as its previous home. It expects the move to facili- tate increased production and the hiring of an addition- al 20 to 25 employees in 2013. The firm provides industrial automation, MRO (maintenance, repair and operations) distribution serv- ices, control engineering, field service (including press upgrades) and other services to manufacturing companies in the United States, Europe and India.
1600-Ton Servo Press Cleans Up at German Appliance Maker
The washer-dryer manu- facturing plant of Miele, in Gutersloh, Germany, claims to have raised stamping out- put by as much as 50 per-
cent thanks to the addition of a new Schuler 1600-metric- ton servo press. The press stamps complex housing and structural parts, many of stainless and chrome steel, andrunsatupto45 strokes/min. in progressive mode. And, as an example of running the press in transfer mode, it stamps drum caps at 24 strokes/min., com- pared to 16 strokes/min. using a conventional press.
Tella Tool Adds Okuma HMC
Contract manufacturer Tella Tool & Manufacturing Co., Lombard, IL, has added an Okuma MB-5000H hori- zontal machining center to its production-machining depart- ment. The HMC features a 110-position automatic tool changer and six-pallet auto- matic pallet changer.
Bradford White Standardizes on
Coe Coil-Line Controls
Coe Press Equipment, Sterling Heights, MI, has installed two new coil lines at the Bradford White water- heater manufacturing plant in Middleville, MI, following the retrofit of two 1999-vintage ServoMaster Series 3 roll feeds with ServoMaster retro- fit packages. The retrofit packages include replace- ment of the operator inter- face, controls console, servo motor, cable sets and pneu- matic valve. The upgrade pro- vides streamlined entry of machine setup information, and enhancements to the operator prompts, machine diagnostics and serial com- munications to the press controls. Additional capabili- ties include production-data reporting and downloading of
