Blank Die Layout
Matt McCaffery, Sales Manager, Toledo Blank
Q:How can blank die layout reduce overall costs?
A:There are several components to consider when designing first opera- tion blanking dies. The initial die cost often
is predicated on the quantity of nested blank through cavities. While increasing the number of die cavities may expand the ini- tial cost, it not only diminishes associated processing costs, but reduces manufac- tured scrap rates. Reduction of direct mate- rial and freight costs from higher utilization rates helps offset the initial expenditure. Often times, it proves cost effective to out- source to achieve the aforementioned sav- ings. www.heidtman.com/toledoblank
