Fiber Laser Named Product of the Year
The Photonics Tech Briefs edition of NASA Tech Briefs presented its Product of the Year award to Hypertherm, Hanover, NH, for its HyInten- sity HFL015 fiber-laser cut- ting system. Judges highlight- ed key capabilities of the 1.5-kW system, designed specifically for cutting and marking.
Jet Edge Earns Governor’s Award
Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton recently presented waterjet-cutting-system man- ufacturer Jet Edge, Inc., St. Michel, MN, an Annual Gover- nor’s International Trade Award. The award recognizes Minnesota businesses that have exhibited “exceptional progress and success in international trade...recogniz- ing the positive effect that exports and trade have on the state’s economy and job growth.”
Jet Edge maintains sales offices throughout the United States and in Shanghai, China, as well as distributors in Canada, Mexico, Europe, Asia/Pacific, South America and the Middle East/Africa. It derives 26 percent of total revenue from international sales and has experienced three consecutive years of growth in export sales.

RIA to Offer Robot- Integrator Certification
The Robotic Industries Association (RIA), Ann Arbor, MI, has developed certifica- tion criteria for robotic-sys- tem integrators, and soon will begin auditing integrators and offering an official Certi- fied Robot Integrator certifi- cation. Key elements to the program are the RIA’s Ameri- can National Robot Safety Standard and safety training. RIA has just begun to accept applications from integrators interested in becoming certi- fied; www.robotics.org.

New Steel Service Center Coming to
the Port of Indiana
Roseville, MN-based Rat- ner Steel, a provider of full- line flat-rolled steel sheet and plate, announced plans to locate a new facility at the Port of Indiana. Ratner will invest $14.25 million to con- struct and equip the 102,000-sq.-ft. steel-service center at the Lake Michigan port. The facility, slated to open early in 2013, is expected to employ as many as 30 people by 2015. It will provide support to the 30 companies now operating at the Port of Indiana, which handled more than 2 million tons of cargo in 2011.
