Aida Expands Distribution—
in Michigan and Around the World
Aida-America added Mid- west Press and Automation, Grand Ledge, MI, as its exclu- sive distributor in Michigan. And, the Aida Group announced the opening of new offices in Morocco and Russia.
Bodycote Acquires Curtis-Wright Business Unit
UK-based thermal-pro- cessing services provider Bodycote plc, which operates 170 facilities in 27 coun- tries, including 35 in the Unit- ed States, has acquired the heattreatment business of
Curtis-Wright Corp., Parsip- pany, NJ.
The acquisition comprises nine U.S. metal-treatment sites, including three in Wichita, KS, that provide the firm a major presence in what it calls a “strategically important aerospace-industry hub.” Also included in the acquisition is a treatment facility in Lafayette, LA, pro- viding access to the oil and gas market.
LVD Strippit on a Mission to Improve Throughput, Reduce Waste
LVD Strippit, Akron, NY, has begun to implement a worldclass manufacturing ini- tiative to improve efficiency and reduce waste. Its pro- duction-assembly depart- ments are following the lean principles of the “house of
lean,” participating in 5S activities and concentrating on the seven mudas—the primary contributors to waste made famous by the Toyota Production System. These are transportation, inventory, motion, waiting, over-pro- cessing, over-production and defects.

The McGregor Metalwork- ing Companies, Springfield, OH, earned Supplier of the Year for the Ag and Turf Divi- sion from John Deere & Co. McGregor supplies several Deere facilities in the United States and Germany with pul- leys, heat shields cab body panels and other products, and soon will provide product to Brazil.
