Tooling Technology
Abrasive Nylon Disc Brushes—A Single Tool Removes Burrs, Improves Surface Finish
for general-purpose deburring and surface- finishing applications; and Turbine style for medium and heavy deburring. The Dot style is an economical choice for light deburring when short cycle times are
important. Dot-style brushes provide opti- mum flexibility and allow entry into small holes and spaces with ease. The Turbine-style brush has a high-den- sity fill, ideal for short cycle times and longer tool life.
Both styles of brushes are designed for use with the new Flow Through Coolant
holder, a professional-grade tool holder that allows coolant to flow from the brush center instead of supplying lubri- cant only from the outside. Center coolant flow results in better lubricant dis-
Brush Research Manufacturing, Los Angeles, CA, introduces a unique new line of Nampower abrasive nylon brushes that contain a combination of ceramic and silicon-carbide filaments to—in one oper- ation—deliver optimum burr-removal rates and ideal surface finish. The abra- sive filaments on the Nampower tools work like flexible files, conforming to part contours and wiping and filing across part edges and surfaces. Because of the linear construction, sharp new grains con- stantly come in contact with the work sur- face and wear off, exposing fresh cutting particles. This provides consistent debur- ring action throughout the length of the bristles.
The abrasive brushes are easily inte- grated into automated machinery—CNC machining centers, transfer lines and robotic cells used for machine inline deburring, edge radiusing and surface fin-
ishing. Typical applications include remov- ing burrs and blending tool marks in punched and fineblanked components
and stamped parts; deburring face- milled surfaces; improving surface finish; edge radiusing; and blending.
Nampower Tools are available in two different fill configurations: Dot style
