Bystronic Names New Distributor for Western Canada
Akhurst Machinery Co., a machinery distributor based in Delta, British Columbia, has been named a new dis- tributor representative in Western Canada for Bystron- ic Inc., Elgin, IL. Bystronic manufactures laser- and waterjet-cutting machines, press brakes, automated material-handling equipment and software.

Seven-Press Automated Line Planned for Dana Plant in Germany
AP&T announced plans to deliver a seven-press line to Dana’s Reinz-Dichtungs-GmbH facility during the summer of 2012. AP&T most recently installed, late in 2010, a sec- ond four-press automated line for producing heat shields at the plant, featuring its Speed- Feeder press robots.
Metalformer Adds Servo-Electric Press Brake
Waukesha Metal Prod- ucts, Sussex, WI, has added a Cone 900 servo-electric
press brake (from Finland’s CoastOne) to its lineup of metal-fabrication equipment. The 25-ton-capacity brake features a 34-in. maximum bend length.
New Laser-Cutting Machine Expands Fabricator’s Capacity to 1⁄2 in. Stainless
Precision sheetmetal fab- ricator Cardinal Metalworks, Inc., Burgaw, NC, has added a Mazak Super Turbo-X MK III 2500-W laser-cutting machine, with load/unload automation, to its stable, allowing the plant to expand its workpiece capacity to 1⁄2- in. stainless-steel and 3⁄4-in. carbon-steel plate. Cardinal Metalworks, an ISO 9001:2008-registered com- pany, employs 50.
Ohio Service Center Adding Huge Stretch- Leveling System
Mid-West Materials, Inc., Perry, OH, has installed a Leveltek stretch-leveling sys- tem capable of producing flat, memory-free mild and ultra-high-strength steel to 3⁄4 in. thick and 100 in. wide. The system joins cut-to- length lines, levelers, slitters and shears occupying the company’s 240,000-sq.-ft. facility.
