Tech Update
±0.004-in. finished part accuracy and ±0.002-in.finished part repeatability. Fabricators can use the P-1525 to process mild steel to 0.135 in. thick and aluminum to 0.250 in.
A servo-driven hydraulic ram offers control of ram position; parameters can easily be accessed and changed to provide opti- mal forming characteristics. The advanced hydraulic drive system reportedly minimizes noise and shock to increase machine longevity and reduce tool wear.
The P-1525 features a 21-station thick-style turret with all turret stations keyed for optimum tool load flexibility. Every sta- tion accepts shaped or round punches and dies, reducing setup time.
The machine comes standard with three 2-in. auto-index sta- tions. Clearance between the upper and lower turret (0.984 in.) allows production of forms such as lances, louvers, emboss- ments or card guides.

Ease Handling of Heavy, Packaged Sheetmetal Blanks
Depalletizing of heavy packages of sheetmetal blanks using a forklift or overhead crane can prove tortuous and bind resources. For quick and efficient handling of packaged blanks, Kemper Storatec, Vreden, Germany, has developed a depalletizing machine that features a turnover device that employs rotary motion to allow easy package handling. The machine is avail- able with loading equipment for a pallet system, or for interfacing to existing warehouse-management systems.
The depalletizing machine allows automatic palletizing of lam- inated cores to 3000 by 1500 mm. Maximum payload is 3 tons, and can be increased by customer request.
The operating sequence follows a fully or semiautomatic process. In a hydraulically operated machine, the laminated cores are fixed and rotated 180 deg. Then the wood packaging can be easily removed. At the end of the 2-min. depalletizing process, the lamination lies aligned to the reference edge of the system pallet. It then automatically transports to the storage system on a material transport vehicle.
To ensure the safety of employees and materials, the operations are continuously monitored with an extensive net- work of sensors.
