Door-Production Cell Stars Seven Die-Handling Units
Reed City Tool, Inc., Reed City, MI, has supplied a pro- duction cell to a door manu- facturer featuring seven Ser- apid RollBeam telescopic linear-actuator push-pull sys- tems, to enable quick die change in and out of the firm’s presses. Five of the systems provide 5 ft. of trav- el and one offers 6 ft. of trav- el; each pushes 18,000-lb. dies at 20 ft./min.
Aida Installs World’s Largest Servo Transfer Press
Automotive supplier Kamtek, a Cosma company (formerly Ogihara) located in
Birmingham, AL, has installed what is reportedly the world’s largest servo transfer press, a 3000-ton Aida model. The press, which boasts a 236 by 98-in. bol- ster, is driven by four servo motors providing 30 strokes/min. in normal oper- ation and 35 strokes/min. in “pendulum mode,” where the slide does not cycle for the entire stroke.
