OSHA Website Explains Recordkeeping Rules
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) unveiled a new interactive website to help users deter- mine whether injuries and illnesses are work-related and recordable under the OSHA Recordkeeping rules. The web- site, called OSHA recordkeeping Advisor, is an interactive tool that simulates an employer’s interaction with a record- keeping-rules expert. It relies on the user’s responses to questions and auto- matically adapts to the situation pre-
sented. Responses put into the pro- gram are strictly confidential and the sys- tem does not record or store any of the information. The advisor helps employ- ers determine:
• Whether an injury or illness (or related event) is work-related;
• Whether an event or exposure at home or on travel is work-related;
• Whether an exception applies to the injury or illness;
• Whether a work-related injury or ill- ness needs to be recorded; and
• Which provisions of the regula- tions apply when recording a work-relat- ed injury or illness.
